Eagle Pride!

Homecoming is a time of remembering staying in the dorms, meeting new people from all walks of life and the crazy things we did in college as youngsters! Its always good to see classmates and roommates, how they have changed and accomplished things.

Tailgating has always been my thing, food drinks and good times! I love seeing everyone come together. Mixing and mingling was great to do. Walking across campus is task in itself! Of course some people you see some people only during this time of year so you want to look your best for yourself first but to others, especially those old flings that missed out on you, LOL.

I was going for a Fall look that was comfortable but also something stylish. Flats were a must with all the walking I had to do and my handy-dandy cross-body bag to keep my essentials.  The pieces initially did not match in my eyes but I thought what the Hey, why not?! Who’s matching these days!?

Breezy on a Saturday Morning!

FullSizeRender (2)

Beautiful sunny weather means its Sundress season! Especially on a hot sunny day, wearing a sundress is mandatory! Sundresses make the summer months bare-able,in North Carolina this heat is very disrespectful! I don’t see how some wear pants in this heat.

I love to feel cool and comfortable while out in the heat. For Father’s day weekend I went to visit my parents. Of course I bought a sundress with me to wear, but also shopped around for a few sundresses. Plato’s closet had tons of sundresses! You can never have enough of them! Plato’s is a secondhand store that purchases and sells used clothing items but more on the name brand side for some items.  Most of their sundresses were $10-$12! Can’t beat those prices.

I sometimes prefer solid colors which allows me to switch to shoes and different color cover-ups with them in cool places like restaurants or work. I do however own a few pattern sundresses. Sundresses can also be worn during the early Fall months. In the Fall I wear more jackets or cover-ups with my sundresses when its still a little warm during the day but chilly at night or in the morning.

How do you wear your sundresses?

FYI-The sundress I am wearing was FREE! My sisters sundress was found at a thrift store for $4!

Some may think going to the thrift store is where you find old, smelly and out of date clothing. That’s what I initially thought. I turned my nose to the thought of wearing some strangers previously worn clothing. On top of the fact that  I’m OCD!!!  The first time I went thrifting I was turned away by the different smells of everyone’s clothing mixed and not knowing what I was doing basically. Clothing sorted by colors kind of distracts me as well, I know that’s weird, lol.  But after a few more trips I got the hang of it!

Thrifting not only saves money but it also helps you to have patience. You have to look through the clothing to find something that catches your eye and find your size. Going to various thrift stores you do find name brand clothing and some times brand new clothing with tags! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found clothes in my size(petite) with the tags still on them and they were name brand! Its almost like a treasure hunt with no particular item in mind that you’re looking for. Sometimes its hit or miss but it won’t hurt to try.  I remember one day I went to my aunts and she had a skirt she bought from Old Navy and I loved it!  Well one day I happened to go to the thrift store a few days later and found that same skirt for $3! Can we say lucky!?   What are some of your Lucky finds at the thrift store?

Breakin All the Rules!

Memorial Day is around the corner but who says you have to wait until then to wear white? Not I! The person that wrote that rule obviously wasn’t a true fashionista!  I don’t like following the rules when it comes to dressing. Who says you have to match your shoes with your top or your earrings? Or that white is only meant to be worn during the summer months? I think all colors should be worn any time of the year.

When I decided to wear those colors it had basically come down to me saying okay whatever ! The colors match why not? Who gonna check me boo?? No one will actually tell you that something doesn’t match even if in the back of their mind they feel like it doesn’t. I’ve seen different patterns/prints mixed and thought to myself that doesn’t go together but when I continued to look at it I was convinced that it did blend well! My fashion goal is to step outside my box and be more creative with my looks, mixing more prints and more color blocking.

Sometimes you just have to go to the closet and just put somethings together. Try them on, lay them out on the bed, send pics to friends if you need feedback. You know how we ladies buy things but then don’t have anything to wear with it, well this may  be the time to try a new outfit and walk out the door feeling confident! Show your creativity in your outfit!
